Vertex Turning Head Antennas – High-Precision Satellite Ground Systems

Turning Head Antennas, designed and manufactured by Vertex Antennentechnik (VA), deliver wide continuous movement ranges, exceptional pointing and tracking accuracy, and reliable performance for satellite communications. These antennas are ideally suited for Telemetry, Tracking & Command (TT&C), ranging, and gateway applications supporting satellites in MEO, GEO, and transfer orbits.

The antenna pedestal and support tower are built from robust steel structures, providing ample space for integrated servo and drive systems. Advanced control systems enable multiple operational modes, including program track and highly accurate monopulse auto-track in Q-band, ensuring precise satellite acquisition and tracking.

VA offers fully integrated RF solutions for Q-band and V-band, including liquid-cooled TWTAs, frequency converters, and fiber optic converters, with IF options in L-band or C-band. The spacious hub allows seamless integration of RF equipment and can be environmentally controlled for optimal performance.

For enhanced system accuracy, antennas can be equipped with GPS-based time reference systems, enabling precise synchronization of the Antenna Control Unit (ACU) and stable frequency generation. Optional reflector heating systems, integrated into the rear structure, improve operational reliability while reducing power consumption.
