In 2016, Skybrokers successfully completed the removal of a VertexRSI 9.0m Earth Station Antenna at the facilities of Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF) in Vienna, Austria. The project was particularly challenging due to the limited working space surrounding the antenna. To safely remove the system, our engineering team had to dismantle the large reflector while it was still suspended in the air before transporting the individual components to a separate loading area.

Recently, Big Blue Marble once again selected Skybrokers to carry out the de-installation of another 9m Earth Station Antenna at the same location. Thanks to our previous experience on-site and our expertise in complex antenna removal projects, the work was completed safely, efficiently, and without disrupting the surrounding infrastructure.

The antenna was carefully dismantled, professionally packed, and loaded onto trucks in August 2026 for transport to Skybrokers’ antenna refurbishment facility in the Netherlands. There, the antenna will undergo a comprehensive inspection, refurbishment, before being prepared for installation at a new location somewhere in Europe.

Austria was the last country in continental Europe after Albania to allow nationwide private television broadcasting, although commercial TV channels from neighbouring Germany have been present in Austria on pay-TV and via terrestrial overspill since the 1980’s.
