ChinaSat-26 (Zhongxing-26) Satellite Overview

ChinaSat-26 (Zhongxing-26) is a next-generation high-throughput communications satellite (HTS) operated by China Satellite Communications Co., Ltd. (China Satcom). It was launched on June 7, 2023, aboard a Long March 3B rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in China.

Built by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) on an advanced DFH-4E satellite platform, ChinaSat-26 is designed to deliver high-capacity broadband connectivity across China and surrounding regions. The satellite primarily operates in the Ka-band, enabling significantly higher data throughput compared to traditional C- and Ku-band satellites.

ChinaSat-26 supports a wide range of applications, including satellite internet services, aviation connectivity, maritime communications, and rural broadband access. Its high-throughput architecture allows for improved bandwidth efficiency and enhanced coverage, helping to bridge the digital divide in remote and underserved areas.

As part of China’s expanding space-based communications infrastructure, ChinaSat-26 represents a major step forward in the country’s high-capacity satellite network development, supporting growing demand for data-driven services and next-generation connectivity solutions.
