Skybrokers delivered a refurbished Andrew 7.3m Earth Station Antenna to Goonhilly Teleport in the UK.
In May 2017 Skybrokers was awarded a contract for the delivery of a refurbished Andrew 7.3m C-band Satellite Earth Station Antenna to Goonhilly Teleport in the south-west of England. The antenna was checked out, cleaned. Critical elements like motor/gearbox, resolvers, limit switches and cabling were replaced for new parts. The customer was responsible for the installation of the antenna that was commissioned successfully.
Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station (GES) is a privately-owned Teleport and the world’s largest Satellite Earth Station, located in Cornwall on the Lizard peninsula in England. There are over 60 communications dishes, 25 of which are in use, providing a significant proportion of the UK’s satellite connectivity. The site also links into undersea cable lines. The site was owned by Telco BT that sold it off in 2014 to become independent.
GES provides access to all types of satellites in GEO and LEO orbit as well as Earth Observation (EO) satellites, from the International Space Station (ISS) and deep space communications.
