GSAT-29 satellite was build by ISRO and is a multi-beam, multi-band communication satellite for India. The satellite was configured around the ISRO’s enhanced I-3K bus.

GSAT-29 carries Ka/Ku-band high throughput communication transponders which will bridge the digital divide of users including those in Jammu & Kashmir and North Eastern regions of India. The satellite also carries Q/V-band payload, configured for technology demonstration at higher frequency bands and Geo-stationary High Resolution Camera. For the first time, an optical communication payload will be utilized for data transmission.

The satellite had a lift-off mass of 3,423kgs and was launched on ISRO’s GSLV Mk.III-D1 launch vehicle on November 14th, 2018 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (Sriharikota) launch base in India.
