An Andrew 9.3m Earth Station Antenna was installed at the former TELE Greenland International site in Copenhagen in Denmark. The company was recently re-organized and the Copenhagen site, with 5 satellite antennas, was recently taken out of business.
The prominent telecommunications and postal provider in Greenland originally existed as the TELE Greenland A/S Group, which was established in 1997 through the merger of TELE Greenland and Kalaallit Allakkeriviat (Greenland Postal Service). Following this merger, Kalaallit Allakkeriviat was integrated into the organization as a business unit and was subsequently rebranded as POST Greenland. This integration gave rise to the shared designation ‘TELE-POST’ for both of these business entities.
In 2021, the company underwent a rebranding and adopted the name Tusass, which is a Greenlandic slang for “talk to you later.” Tusass has its headquarters located in Nuuk and operates two subsidiary companies; TELE Greenland International A/S and IT Partner Greenland A/S.
TELE Greenland International A/S, was responsible for offering telecommunications and VSAT services, equipment maintenance for customers, and telehousing. These operations were centered at the Copenhagen Teleport facility in Denmark, which managed all communication traffic to and from Greenland.
IT Partner Greenland A/S was specialized in providing corporate solutions in the realms of IT infrastructure, digital document management systems, and communication solutions.
TELE Greenland A/S Group was structured into three distinct business units:
- TELE: This unit managed telecommunications activities under a concession granted by the Greenland Home Rule.
- POST: Responsible for overseeing the postal service in Greenland, operating in accordance with parliamentary regulations concerning postal services.
- Coastal Radio Service: This unit handled maritime safety and emergency communications, as well as commercial communications for the shipping industry.
Collectively, these three business units were referred to as TELE-POST.
Currently, the company manages the top-level domain for Greenland .gl, and owns the sea cable Greenland Connect, a 2-pair 128*10 Gbit/s submarine fiber cable connecting Canada, Greenland and Iceland.
