Siemens 32m Earth Station Antenna installed at Fuchsstadt Teleport in Germany

Siemens 32m Earth Station Antenna pointed at Intelsat IS22 satellite operated by Satellite Operator Intelsat. The antenna was built in 1985 by Siemens from Germany and is operated out of Intelsat’s Fuchsstadt Teleport in Fuchsstadt, Germany.

Intelsat is one of world’s largest satellite operators, currently operating a fleet of more than 55 communications satellites. The latest additions to the satellite fleet were Galaxy 33 and 34, orbited on October 9th, and Galaxy 31 and 32 on November 12th 2022 in dual launches on Falcon 9 launch vehicles operated by the SpaceX.

Intelsat’s Spacecraft operations are controlled through ground stations in Hagerstown, Maryland (USA), Riverside, California (USA), and Intelsat’s biggest Teleport Fuchsstadt in Germany, with over the 70 antennas in operation.

Intelsat became the largest provider of fixed satellite services in 2006 when the company acquired satellite operator PanAmSat in a 6.4 billion USD deal.

In 2020 Intelsat filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in order to restructure their 15 billion USD dept. The company experienced some economic fallout from the COVID19 pandemic. Intelsat was the third satellite company in as many months to file for bankruptcy. Satellite constellation startup OneWeb filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2020, followed by satellite services provider Speedcast in April 2020.
