Located at 114.9° West, Eutelsat 115 West B extends Eutelsat’s satellite coverage from Alaska and Canada down to South America, with unique coverage over the Galapagos and Easter Island (Rapa Nui).

Ku-band resources, connected to three fixed beams covering the Americas from Alaska to Patagonia, provide optimised regional coverage of Canada, Mexico and South America for high-growth data-services including broadband access, government connectivity and corporate networks. Video-services include Occasional Use capacity, DTH and DTT.

A semi-hemispheric C-band beam provides ground-breaking coverage from Alaska to Peru. This is optimised for services including mobility, cellular backhaul and trunking, video distribution and government services.

The Eutelsat 115 West B satellite is of particular interest to ISP’s, aeronautical, maritime, oil & gas, telecom operators and government agencies, as well as news, sports & entertainment broadcasters.

Eutelsat 115 West B is the first all-electric satellite of Eutelsat’s fleet and was originally ordered with Boeing Defense & Space in 2012 by Satelites Mexicanos S.A.B. de C.V. (SatMex). The new Satmex 7 satellite would provide Fixed Satellite Services (FSS) to the Americas. SatMex was acquired be Eutelsat in 2014 and was rebranded Eutelsat Americas. In May 2014, the satellite was renamed Eutelsat 115 West B.

The satellite was launched, in a dual launch with ABS-3A for satellite operator Asia Broadcast Satellite, on March 2nd, 2015 on a Falcon 9 rocket operated by launch operator SpaceX.
