Company History

A successful privately owned and managed company based in Yorkshire, UK, Peak Communications has been a leading manufacturer of Satcom frequency converters and other RF infrastructure products since its conception in 1995. Growth has led to diversification and broadening of the product range and Peak Communications can now provide its customers with Satcom frequency converters (synthesized, agile, fixed and block), uplink power controllers (AUPC), beacon receivers, test loop translators, line amplifiers, active & passive splitters/ combiners, multi-channel modular variable gain units, noise sources, reference generation/ distribution, LNB/ BUC/ BDC drivers & redundancy systems, earth station monitoring, SDR and redundancy switches.

Peak Communications Ltd. was established in 1995 and began by manufacturing the P701 L-Band frequency Downconverter unit. The addition of the P702 Upconverter in 1996 enabled Peak Communications to produce the P700 L-Band Up/Down Converter in a single 1RU package.

Headed up by Managing Director Michael Kitson, the company has supplied its innovative products to the military and commercial sectors. After 20 years of international trade, Peak has built an impressive roster of partners and distributors worldwide including the USA, Australia, Thailand, Europe and many more.

Originally operating out of a home garage, Peak recently up scaled its working environment, moving the expanding team into larger warehouses in Brighouse. The move enabled Peak Communications to increase their workload and run multiple projects at one time; something that in the past, they were unable to do due to limited space.

Peak Communications predominantly manufacture satellite communications equipment, frequency converters and other Earth station products which interact with space stations from the Earth’s surface. They also manufacture various support products to accompany satellite equipment and recent company growth has led to an increase in and diversification of the product range and Peak Communications is now able to distribute all components needed to set up a fully functioning satellite link.

Clear advancements in broadcasting technology, such as the introduction of High Definition, has led to Peak Communications purchasing hi-tech machinery in order to eliminate certain aspects of manual labor.

Whilst they are keen to invest in modern machinery the staff work hands-on across all aspects of the manufacturing process; from the design of the product to the assembly and packing. Peak places great emphasis on the quality of its products and in order to ensure all distributed products are in fully working order, all in-house testing is conducted by staff.

Peak are now a well-established name within the satellite and communications industry and hope to continue to this grow, recruiting highly skilled members of staff in order to facilitate company expansion and continued success worldwide.

Skybrokers has integrated and installed Peak Communications equipment with their used and refurbished Earth Station Antennas.
