GSAT-12 Geostationary Communication Satellite was built by and is operated by ISRO from India. GSAT-12 had a launch mass of about 1,410kgs at lift-off. GSAT-12 was configured to carry 12 Extended C-band transponders to meet the country’s growing demand for transponders in a short turn-around-time.

The 12 Extended C-band transponders of GSAT-12 augments the capacity in the INSAT system for various communication services like Tele-education, Telemedicine and for Village Resource Centers (VRC).

GSAT-12 was successfully launched on July 15th, 2011 on a PSLV rocket, operated by ISRO, from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in India.
