Centauri-6 (Alpha 7)
The Centauri-6 (Alpha 7) LEO satellite is owned and operated by Fleet Space from Australia. The Alpha satellites are operational versions of Fleet Space’ planned 140 satellite network for global satellite connectivity to the Internet-of-Things (IoT) designed for use in the energy, utilities, and resource industries.
The Alpha satellites are based on the technology tested on the Centauri satellites. They are larger than the earlier CubeSat based versions and are built by using 3D printing technology. The Alpha satellites feature 64 antenna elements (compared to 4 on Centauri), increasing their capability by the factor 16 (16U), while only having a mass of 4 times of the Centauri satellite.
The successful launch of Centauri-6 is the latest development from Fleet Space after a period of exponential growth and innovative breakthroughs unlocking new capabilities in the global space sector. The satellite, the latest addition to Fleet Space’s constellation, was developed in collaboration with Tyvak International.
The Centauri-6 LEO satellite was launched on April 7th, 2024 with the SpaceX Bandwagon-1 mission on a Falcon 9 rocket from Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA.
