The GDSatcom Model 7134 Antenna Control System is a microprocessor-based system incorporating digital technology for accurate antenna positioning with high reliability, maximum flexibility, and a straightforward and practical user interface. This control system is ideally suited for small to medium aperture antenna applications requiring capabilities for automatic multiple satellite access, program track, remote control via an RS-232 or RS-422 communications link, and optionally automatic step track operation and memory track.

The GDSatcom 7134 ACU standard product provides 2-speed axis control for AZ and EL with a high/low speed ratio of up to 15:1. This is accomplished by application of user-settable high and low-speed control signals to variable speed.

AC drives, which in turn control standard 3-phase induction motors. For 3-axis systems, circuitry is provided for the control of an AC synchronous stepping polarization motor.The AZ and EL motor controllers employ integral electronic protection.The drive cabinet includes NEMA-rated circuit protection devices for each motor/motor controller, which are sized appropriately for each application.

GDSatcom Technologies (GDSatcom) is now part of Communications & Power Industries, Inc. (CPI). In August 2019 it was announced that CPI would purchase GDSatcom Technologies. The acquisition was to be finalized before end of 2019 but U.S. Justice Department required CPI to divest its ASC Signal Division. Without CPI’s divesture of ASC Signal, there would be significant less competition for large Earth Station Antennas in the USA and the deal would give CPI a monopoly on the antenna business in the US.

GDSatcom was designer, manufacturer and installer of antennas for mobile satellite communications and fixed communication gateways. GDSatcom operated as a separate unit under the General Dynamics Mission Systems Division, a business unit of American global aerospace and defense company General Dynamics (GD).

General Dynamics Mission Systems was formed in January 2015 when GD combined the company’s C4 Systems (originally owned by General Telephone & Electronics Corporation(GTE) and AIS (Advanced Information Systems). GD acquired GTE Government Systems in 1999.

GD Advanced Information Systems provided mission-related systems development, integration and operations support. General Dynamics C4 Systems was a leading integrator of secure communications, information systems and technology.
