Proxima -1 and -2 CubeSats are pathfinder satellites for Fleet Space Technologies’ planned network of Centauri satellites for global satellite connectivity to the Internet of things (IoT).

The Proxima satellites were manufactured by Pumpkin Space Systems and are built to the 1.5U CubeSat form factor on very short notice within two weeks.

Proxima-1 and -2 were launched on November 11th 2018 on an Electron KS rocket operated by Rocket Lab from the Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand. It was Rocket Lab’s first commercial launch, named ‘It’s Business time’ putting a total of seven payloads in orbit including an Earth Observation satellite built by Tyvak Nano-Satellite systems.
