ChinaSat-11 satellite is operated by ChinaSat and is equipped with 45 Ku- and C-band transponders to deliver direct broadcast television and broadband Internet services to commercial customers in Asia, Africa, Australia, whilst covering large regions of China Sea, Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. The satellite is based on China’s DFH-4 platform and was designed and manufactured by China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) under China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp.

ChinaSat-11 is also used for Ninmedia, a free Indonesian TV network that provides many Indonesian TV stations.

Part of the satellite’s communications payload was leased to satellite operator SupremeSAT from Sri Lanka and co-branded as SupremeSAT-2. SupremeSAT ordered the satellite in May 2013, with a planned launch date of mid 2018. In 2016 the project was put on hold due to poor market conditions and SupremeSAT focused more on developing Earth imaging satellites, leaving the SupremeSAT-2 satellite in the design stage.

The ChinaSat-11 satellite was launched on May 1^st, 2013 on a Long March 3B (CZ-3B) rocket operated by launch operator CGWIC, from the Xichang LA-2 launch base.
