Sidus Space

Sidus Space is a Space-as-a-Service satellite company focused on commercial satellite design, manufacturing, launch and data collection. The company, based in Florida, USA, is planning and building the LizzieSat™ LEO satellite constellation and operates from a 35,000-square-foot manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing facility.

The planned constellation comes after the company changed its name in 2021 from Craig Technologies Aerospace Solutions, which was created as a manufacturing subsidiary a decade ago for Craig Technologies, a technology solutions provider founded in 1999.

The 100kgs weighing satellites of the constellation are partially 3D manufactured LEO multi-mission Micro-satellites focused on rapid, cost-effective development and testing of upcoming innovative spacecraft technologies for multiple customers. 

Sidus owns, operates and leases space onboard Ride-share satellites with plans for launching 100 satellites in 5 years. By developing a cradle-to-grave offering for space, the company delivers customer solutions and technologies to orbit in months, rather than years. In addition, Sidus provides high-impact data for insights on aviation, maritime, weather, space services, Earth intelligence and observation, and an Internet of Things (IoT) as a monthly subscription service.

Current customer base includes the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, NASA, the Department of Defense (DoD), the Department of State, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), The ISS National Lab, Airbus, Bechtel National, Blue Origin, Boeing, Collins Aerospace, Dynetics, L3 Harris, Lockheed Martin, space logistics company Nanoracks, Northrop Grumman, satellite operator OneWeb and several international governments and enterprises.

The company was formerly known as Craig Technologies Aerospace Solutions, Inc. (CTAS), a space and defense manufacturing firm with engineers, technicians and state of the art equipment providing precision machining, fabrication and assembly. CTAS evolved into a Space-As-A-Service company, providing clients with rapidly scalable low-cost satellite services, space-based solutions. In June 2021 CTAS was renamed Sidus Space.

Sidus is ISO-9001 certified as per 2015 as well as AS9100D Certified and ITAR Compliant.

Company History

Sidus Space was ‘born’ in 2021 by ‘astropreneur’ Carol Craig (CEO). Craig was one of the first women eligible to fly combat aircraft in the U.S. Navy and the first female aviator in her squadron serving as an active-duty P-3C Orion Naval Flight Officer. She was responsible for all tactical communication and navigation aboard combat aircraft. 

The company was formerly known as Craig Technologies Aerospace Solutions, Inc. (CTAS), a space and defense manufacturing firm with engineers, technicians and state of the art equipment providing precision machining, fabrication and assembly. CTAS was formed in 1999 by Craig as an engineering company responsible for design, prototype and test a wide variety of mission-critical systems for a diverse range of customers including the US Government.

On December 14^th, 2021 Sidus Space became a public company transforming the company from a government contractor into a commercial satellite constellation operator. The company raised 15 million USD by listing shares on the Nasdaq stock exchange, without a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) merger that other space companies are using to go public.

On May 26^th, 2022 Sidus selected L3Harris Technologies for command and control and mission planning for its LizzieSat satellite constellation using L3Harris’ InControl™ and OnTime™ software to provide satellite command and control software for on-orbit, factory test and ground system M&C.

In December 2022 the company announced plans for further expanding to Europe by opening a new office in the Netherlands. Sidus Space plans to expand its reach in the European market to engage the space ecosystem and promote its business offerings for space-based data. 

On March 4^th, 2024 Sidus Space successfully launched its first LizzieSat satellite, LizzieSat-1, on SpaceX’ Transporter-10 Rideshare mission. The launch took place from the Vandenberg Space Fore Base in California, USA, on a Falcon 9 rocket.
