Express-AM2 (Ekspress-AM2) was a Russian geostationary communications satellite operated by RSCC (Russian Satellite Communications Company). It was built by ISS Reshetnev with payload contributions from Alcatel Space and designed to provide television broadcasting, radio, data transmission, and VSAT services across Russia and neighboring regions.
Launched on 30 March 2005 aboard a Proton-K / DM-2 rocket, Express-AM2 was positioned in geostationary orbit (GEO) to support national and regional communications infrastructure. The satellite carried C-band and Ku-band transponders, enabling reliable coverage for civil, commercial, and governmental users.
Express-AM2 served as an important element of Russia’s early-2000s satellite modernization program and helped expand digital broadcasting and telecommunications services throughout the country.
