In February 2014 the ABS-2 state-of-the-art high-powered spacecraft was successfully launched as the largest satellite in the eastern hemisphere. ABS-2 is located at the 75° East Longitude, ABS’ prime orbital location covering four-fifths of the world’s population across the Indian Ocean region. The satellite covers Europe, Middle-East, Africa, Asia, Russia and spanning  Australia.

ABS-2 was constructed by Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) and was launched by launch operator Arianespace on a Ariane 5 rocket.

Satellite operators SingTel from Singapore and KT Sat from Korea are leasing transponders on ABS-2 and are branding by ST-3 and KoreaSat-8.
