Eutelsat 10A (Eutelsat W2A) carries a powerful payload of Ku-band capacity, while also boosting C-band capacity available through Eutelsat’s fleet for services across Africa. The satellite is located at 10° East, one of Eutelsat’s long-standing orbital locations and a key position for data and professional video networks. Services have been continuously provided at this location since 1987.
The Ku-band payload on Eutelsat 10A offers an enhanced Widebeam footprint serving Europe, North Africa and the Middle-East. A second Ku-band beam serves southern Africa and Indian Ocean islands and enables connectivity between Africa and Europe.
The C-band payload provides pan-African coverage, extending to India and parts of Asia as well as Latin America, for broadband and telecommunications services.
EchoStar Mobile, a subsidiary of satellite operator EchoStar. Corp. owns a S-band payload on Eutelsat-10A (Eutelsat W2A). The satellite had the first S-band payload covering Europe and was owned by Solaris Mobile, a joint-venture between Eutelsat and satellite operators SES. In January 2014 Echostar Corp. acquired Solaris Mobile and in March 2015 the company was renamed Echostar Mobile.
Eutelsat 10A satellite, constucted by Thales Alenia Space, was launched on April 3rd, 2009 from the Baikonour Cosmodrome launch site in Kazachstan on a Proton M rocket operated by ILS launch operator.
