ARSat-2 is located at 81° West longitude and was the second geostationary satellite built in Latin America. The payload was supplied by INVAP and consisted of both Ku-band and C-band transponders.
The Ku-band has 20 physical transponders. Of those, sixteen have a 36MHz bandwidth and four have 72MHz. The satellite has a maximum capacity of 864MHz Ku- or 24 transponder equivalent. A 2m (6.6ft) deployable antenna and a 1.3m (4.3ft) fixed Gregorian antenna.
The C-band section has a single 1.6m (5ft) deployable antenna that is fed by six physical transponders. Four have 72Mhz of bandwidth and the other two have 88MHz. The total available C-band bandwidth is 464 MHz (or 12.9 transponder equivalent).
The ARSat-2 satellite was built by INVAP from Argentina. The satellite was launched on September 30th, 2015 on an Ariane 5 rocket operated by launch operator Arianespace, in a dual launch with Sky Muster satellite for NBN Australia. The launch of ARSat-2 became the 400th satellite to be launched by Arianespace.
